I Graduated from the University of Sheffield in l973, having been awarded an LLB. I then attended the College of Law in Guildford and was Admitted as a Solicitor in l975. In l997, I was awarded a Master of Laws with Distinction (Advanced Litigation) by the University of Nottingham Trent.
I trained as a Litigator and have undertaken a Litigation Practice throughout my career. I have successfully pursued a number of high profile Group Actions, to include the Imperial Tobacco Pension Fund Litigation and the British Coal Respiratory Disease Litigation. I have had the conduct of high volume Litigation of substance, to include Personal Injury and Industrial Disease. On behalf of one client, a serving Police Officer, I successfully pursued High Court Judicial Review Proceedings against the Council of the RSPCA, securing an Order for Certiorari. More recently, I successfully defended an eminent Fingerprint Expert in the first ever Disciplinary Tribunal Proceedings pursued by the Council for the Registration of Forensic Practitioners. Together with my Partners, we have extensive involvement in Parliamentary Campaigning, both in the House of Commons and House of Lords.
Whether at work or at home, I am generally accompanied by my best friend. Muffin (my dog). Over the last few years, I have managed to complete two London Marathons, although it was demeaning to be overtaken by the so-called “Fun Runners” in rhino outfits. I have a keen interest in environmental issues and can bore for England on the issue of electric hybrid cars, wind generators and solar panels. I have, however, found the greatest sport in the world and that is Skydiving. I undertook AFF Training at the Langar Drop Zone and jump on a regular basis from 13,000 feet. Subject to confirmation, Towells Solicitors will be the primary Sponsors of the Langar DZ (British Parachute Schools) attempt on the Great British Formation Sky Diving Record with a 122-way in September, 2006.
